Why study BTEC Hospitality?
Hospitality is a huge UK and international industry. This course will give students an insight into the range of careers in the industry. They will organise events including; food preparation, food service, booking venues, preparing menus for people with allergies, designing graphic products (invitations, feedback cards, menus etc).

This course will help pupils to understand and appreciate the ingredients and foods necessary for a healthy lifestyle. It will help pupils to be creative in their approach to food preparation, and they will use computers to help with assignments.
Pupils will learn about a range of materials including ‘smart’ food materials that respond in certain ways, providing added benefits for the food technologist.

Pupils will Study:-
  • the catering industry
  • importance of good hygiene
  • nutrition and meal planning
  • the importance of a healthy lifestyle
  • technological developments
  • food production & preparation

Pupils will:-

  • visit hospitality establishments
  • work practically with food
  • learn how to work on your own and as part of a team

Assessment:-
All students study a level 2 award in BTEC Hospitality. Students complete a Level 2 BTEC Certificate in year10 (equivalent to 2 GCSEs, A* to C), and in year 10 they can progress on to the Level 2 BTEC Diploma (equivalent to 4 GCSEs, A* to C). All assessment is coursework based, with students completing many assignments and events over 2 years.
